"FInding Her"

Hand carved spruce frame, locally milled wood
 
"Finding Her" was painted over a period of a couple years, finally being finished through a process of sanding and carving off layers of the painted surface. This revealed past paintings hidden underneath the most current layer of paint. Found within this destructive mark making, a shy portrait of a woman was apparent. Elusive and heavily abstracted, this  portrait begs to be found by onlookers. This  activates the work, prompting onlookers to help find her.
